Rallye Sunseeker Awards Dinner delights Charities
The annual Rallye Sunseeker awards dinner, once again has benefited the chosen charities with donations raised at this years gala event. The event hosted in conjunction with the IRDC (International Rally Drivers Club) aims to raise funds to benefit those less fortunate than most of us, and as a result each year, is one of the most eagerly awaited, and integral functions within the Rallye Sunseeker schedule.
For Shaun Martin, Chairman of the IRDC, this year was no different and he told us “This is the second year we have been involved with the awards evening and it didn’t disappoint. The highlight of the evening was our Guest of Honour, Paddy Hopkirk who won the Monte Carlo Rally in his Mini Cooper 50 years ago! We also had a charity auction which I am pleased to say made a whopping £4300 for the two charities. Thank you to everyone for making the evening a success”
For Rally Director Rick Smith, the Gala Dinner is always an enjoyable event and he said “It’s a super way to end the event, with guests and competitors in great form, and the relaxed ambience adds to the enjoyment of the event.”
This year for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) the inaugural partnership with Rallye Sunseeker has been a very successful one and Jo Saunders added “We were delighted to host Rallye Sunseeker for their first ever event at the RNLI College. It was a fabulous evening with a fascinating presentation from Paddy Hopkirk. The fantastic auction raised vital funds to train our volunteer lifeboat crews, which will enable them to continue to save lives at sea. We look forward to Rallye Sunseeker 2014!”
Equally positive about the dinner was The Children’s Trust, which operates and runs the largest rehabilitation centre for children in the UK, and works with, and aids children all across the country, as well as ensuring nursing and care services are available.
The Trust firmly believes in an ethos that every child should have as much support and help to lead as normal a life as possible irrespective of its situation. Sarah Juliet commented, “It has been great to be chosen for this event once again, and we would like to thank all those involved in making the evening a great success. It’s always a lot of fun and has raised a lot of money for The Children’s Trust.”
Rallye Sunseeker International (October 18/19), organised by the Southern Car Club, was the last of six rounds of the 2013 MSA British Rally Championship; it was also the final round of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship as well as the Rallye Sunseeker BRC Challenge and Rallye Sunseeker National events.
